miss you. mft sketch challenge.

Today I am visiting the design I used earlier this week, with a cat interacting with a greeting. This time I went with the latest color challenge at My Favorite Things.
MissYouCatCard (1 of 2)
I used two stamp sets from MFT: Bold Statements and I Knead You. I didnt’ use their specific inks, but I did have coordinating colors from Stampin’ UP!: Pistachio Pudding, Wild Wasabi, Ā and Marigold Morning. Again, my Misti played a key roll in getting everything to line-up.

Tassels and birthdays.

Why do I wait until the last moment to make birthday cards? Not sure, but I know I usually have to have them out the door before I can photograph them. This is a rarity people, and actual birthday card, photographed and posted before it’s sent out. wow. šŸ˜›

BirthdayTasselCard (1 of 3)

I used Hero Arts Tassels set, which I love. Pretty simple, stamped the string then stamped the little tassels. not much to it.BirthdayTasselCard (3 of 3)

I did curve the greeting to mimic the shape of the string. Also, I tied actual string to the ends of the stamped string to make it look a little more 3-D-ish.BirthdayTasselCard (2 of 3)

Some Birdie Loves You.

I’ve been waiting for this little cutie, Some Birdie Loves You stamp setĀ from Clearly Besotted, to come back in stock at Simon Says Stamp. Believe me, as soon as I saw it, I grabbed it and checked-out. Isn’t it the cutest little bird ever? and there are several more in the set.

On a funnier note… I totally finished coloring this sweetie and I decided to add some blue to the eye. Big mistake. It made it look like a killer bird, super scary. So out came the googly-eye and I think it looks awesome. Sometimes mistakes make for the best cards, right?

The little hearts were punched from white card stock scrap that I tossed a little coordinating watercolor onto. I layered them on the center of the “O” from Bold Statements by MFT and then pulled out that favorite of mine, Crackle Accents, applied and let dry.

XOXOXO. Duh.

This card started out as my first attempt at the My Favorite Things Color Challenge. As I finished and studied it for a moment, I knew something was wrongMFT_ColorChallenge_PaintBook_38. But what? DUH. I totally forgot one of the colors. How in the heck does that happen? — I’d like to say it was something other than old age, but I can’t. Regardless, I like the card, so I thought I’d share it foible and all.

I Adore You.

I seem to have love on the mind lately. Of Course Valentine’s Day is coming up, in addition to that I will be celebrating my 25th wedding anniversary on February 9th. Before that my baby boy will be turning 16 on February 5th. Lot’s of love in my heart right now. Gratitude. Joy. Love.

Today’s card is pulled from a color challenge that is right up my ally. Kinda odd. Just like me. šŸ™‚
IAdoreYouCard (1 of 3)-2
It started with a kiss, stamp that is. lol. I picked up this little image from the local crafts store for $1.50. It is just the perfect lipstick kiss. For the card I stamped the “swishes” one at a time, then the lips. I used my Misti again to get tons of color saturation. The little heart and twine give the card a little “umph”. The twine was black and white originally, I ran it over a yellow stamp pad to color the white portion yellow.

Next I placed the greeting, but before I stamped the image I matched the curve of the swish that It sits atop of. Again the Clear Wink of Stella is brushed across the lips to add some sparkle.

Never too old.

Today’s card brings back that cute little elephant stamp & die set Unforgettable from WPlus9. I actually combined three different stamp sets here to create a card that isn’t gender specific. Making feminine cards with flowers and pretty things comes easily to most stampers, we often neglect to make cards for the men in our lives — at least the men who aren’t big fans of flowery stuff. My dad loves a good bouquet on a card with gooey talk oozing on the inside. šŸ™‚
Celebrate - Wplus9
The elephant was stamped, die cut and colored with SU! Blendabilities two times. I actually snipped the head off of the second and layered over the first to make his cute little noggin pop to life.
Celebrate Card
My Misti came in quite handy with the three different images underneath the elephant. Celebrate comes from the set Celebrate Big from My Favorite Things. The stars and other greeting comes from Lil’ Inker’s You’re Invited stamp set.

Happy stamping to you my friends, please leave a comment to let me know you stopped by!

Green Balloons & Elephants

Elephants. Who would think I’d be so taken by such an animal?! When I saw this super sweet stamp set from WPlus9, Ā Unforgettable,Ā Ā I had a moment of internal little girl squealing.

First the SU! Blendabilites came out to brighten this tiny stamped darling. Sad to say, but — SU! has discontinued them. Non the less I’m working on my alcohol marker skills in hopes of procuring a set of Copic markers in the near future. In the VERY near future. In the meantime I am having a stellar timeĀ experimenting with coloring again.

The die cut balloon is slipped into two slits cut on either side of his little trunk. Backed by polka dot embossed card stock the little guy pops. Did you notice the color choice I made? Olive green? yah I like to push the color envelope. I really think this combination works.
