miss you. mft sketch challenge.

Today I am visiting the design I used earlier this week, with a cat interacting with a greeting. This time I went with the latest color challenge at My Favorite Things.

I used two stamp sets from MFT: Bold Statements and I Knead You. I didnt’ use their specific inks, but I did have coordinating colors from Stampin’ UP!: Pistachio Pudding, Wild Wasabi,  and Marigold Morning. Again, my Misti played a key roll in getting everything to line-up.

cats are cute.

Sometimes a card design is just sitting there in my brain, here’s an example of one that turned-out even better than my imagination predicted. I looked at the latest My Favorite Things Color Challenge, #271, and I knew I wanted to hang this cat on a greeting.HangingCatGratefulCard (1 of 3)
I created a mask of the letters TEF and then stamped this darling feline after I stamped the greeting. One last addition came as I looked over the stamp set, why not add FUR YOU. It created a nice balance to the card visually and made it even punn-i-er. HangingCatGratefulCard (3 of 3)Happy creating friends,

Tassels and birthdays.

Why do I wait until the last moment to make birthday cards? Not sure, but I know I usually have to have them out the door before I can photograph them. This is a rarity people, and actual birthday card, photographed and posted before it’s sent out. wow. 😛

I used Hero Arts Tassels set, which I love. Pretty simple, stamped the string then stamped the little tassels. not much to it.BirthdayTasselCard (3 of 3)

I did curve the greeting to mimic the shape of the string. Also, I tied actual string to the ends of the stamped string to make it look a little more 3-D-ish.BirthdayTasselCard (2 of 3)

Roll with the old. In with the new.

I’m working on using some of my older stamp sets. I honestly have not give them enough time for how super-darling they are. Like this one from Avery Elle, Roll With It.

Pretty simple stuff, easily done with my Misti. I can’t recommend a stamping tool more than I would recommend the Misti. Trust me… get one. Get one now. It’s worth every single penny. You will use your stamps more and become more creative with them.BikeTogetherCard (1 of 3)

The greeting was stamped in white craft in first, let dry, then stamped with the navy. The craft ink kinda “squished” so it almost looks like an outline of sorts.

Some Birdie Loves You.

I’ve been waiting for this little cutie, Some Birdie Loves You stamp set from Clearly Besotted, to come back in stock at Simon Says Stamp. Believe me, as soon as I saw it, I grabbed it and checked-out. Isn’t it the cutest little bird ever? and there are several more in the set.

On a funnier note… I totally finished coloring this sweetie and I decided to add some blue to the eye. Big mistake. It made it look like a killer bird, super scary. So out came the googly-eye and I think it looks awesome. Sometimes mistakes make for the best cards, right?

The little hearts were punched from white card stock scrap that I tossed a little coordinating watercolor onto. I layered them on the center of the “O” from Bold Statements by MFT and then pulled out that favorite of mine, Crackle Accents, applied and let dry.

Cards. I like ’em.

I did some light watercoloring with my new Zig Clean Color markers, then die cut out “thanks” and two hearts. Using some fun heart dies from Lil’ Inker I created a negative space for the greeting and smaller hearts. I then applied Crackle Accents to the two smaller hearts and let it dry for a few hours. It’s kinda like magic when it’s all done.

XOXOXO. Duh.

This card started out as my first attempt at the My Favorite Things Color Challenge. As I finished and studied it for a moment, I knew something was wrongMFT_ColorChallenge_PaintBook_38. But what? DUH. I totally forgot one of the colors. How in the heck does that happen? — I’d like to say it was something other than old age, but I can’t. Regardless, I like the card, so I thought I’d share it foible and all.

I Adore You.

I seem to have love on the mind lately. Of Course Valentine’s Day is coming up, in addition to that I will be celebrating my 25th wedding anniversary on February 9th. Before that my baby boy will be turning 16 on February 5th. Lot’s of love in my heart right now. Gratitude. Joy. Love.

Today’s card is pulled from a color challenge that is right up my ally. Kinda odd. Just like me. 🙂

It started with a kiss, stamp that is. lol. I picked up this little image from the local crafts store for $1.50. It is just the perfect lipstick kiss. For the card I stamped the “swishes” one at a time, then the lips. I used my Misti again to get tons of color saturation. The little heart and twine give the card a little “umph”. The twine was black and white originally, I ran it over a yellow stamp pad to color the white portion yellow.

Next I placed the greeting, but before I stamped the image I matched the curve of the swish that It sits atop of. Again the Clear Wink of Stella is brushed across the lips to add some sparkle.
